Psyc362 Spring 2018 : CogLab
Extra Credit / Make-Up Points using CogLab
NEW: you may gain up to 5 extra credit / make-up points by doing other CogLab experiments.
Instructions
- Complete up to 5 CogLab experiments on the CogLab Website
- You will get 1 point per experiment completed
- You can do any experiment other than the 8 assigned for this class (Patrial Report, Brain Asymmetry, Visual Search, Stroop Effect, Mental Rotation, Encoding Specificity, Prototypes, Fasle Memory)
- The instructor will receive notification that you have completed the labs. You will receive the credit towards the end of the semester.
- To count for extra credit, labs must be completed before class on Tuesday May 8th (Week 16)

Step 2: How to Set Up your CogLab account
These instructions describe how students in the class PSYC 362 for instructor Michael Diehr at CSU San Marcos create their individual accounts.
- Go to https://coglab.cengage.com/help/register.shtml
- Fill out the form with these three bits of information:

Group Password | chomsky362 |
Registration Code | enter your registration code A CogLab5 code is made up of 16 letters and numbers, and will look something like this: sjkq8b632dvhd4u0 (Don't use this one, use the one you purchased). |
- A new window will appear. The first line is your User ID. It will look something like this: Psyc362Spring2018-X where X is your unique student number. Write this down because you will need to access CogLab later
- The second line is your registration code.
- Enter your name and choose a password. You'll use this when you login. The password must be at least 8 characters long. For security, do not use the same password you use on other web sites.
- The next two lines ask for your email address and then confirmation of this address. Please use your CSUSM student email address.
- Next, enter a security question and answer. Make sure to use an question that only you can answer correctly. Also, remember whether you use uppercase or lowercase letters in your answer: you'll need to enter your answer exactly the same if you forget your password.
- Click the Complete Registration button. Your CogLab account is now ready to go!
Completing CogLabs
We will be doing 8 different CogLabs this semester. See the syllabus for due dates. For full credit, you need to complete the lab before the start of class. Questions about the CogLab will be on the quiz - for this reason I recommend that you don't try to get ahead on the labs. Do them a few days before the quiz.
The website keeps track of your progress, so you don't need to turn anything in.
Please carefully read all of the information for each lab. Each CogLab has a nice summary including the Background and Instructions before you take the lab, followed by a Debriefing and Summary Data showing the results.
