Psyc 402 Online Format

Spring 2021 - Instruction is being held online due to the worldwide coronavirus pandemic.

This page contains resources to help you understand how we'll be doing Psyc 402 in an online format.

Schedule: Synchronous vs. Asynchronous?

This class is traditionally given in person, and some of the experiences (such as working together on lab computers) will be difficult to reproduce effectively online. We will do our best under these difficult circumstances.

Asynchronous

You can do these tasks whenever you prefer (subject to due dates):
  1. Watch the pre-recorded online lecture video (about 2 hours)
  2. Study the lecture notes, textbook, and additional readings
  3. Take Online Quizzes
  4. Work on take-home assignments and exercises
  5. Email me for individual “office hours” help.
  6. Participate in the online class forum

Synchronous

Some items have specific times and dates that you need to be available for. These will always happen during the scheduled class times:
  1. Online Exams
  2. Office hours (over Zoom) for individual help
  3. ** Breakout Sessions – group discussion of the quiz, lecture notes, exercises, and reviews for exams.
** these tasks count towards online participation credit. See the syllabus for details

Textbooks

It's possible to do quite well in this class without the Kaplan & Saccuzzo textbook, providing you pay close attention to the video lectures and attend the live discussion sections. The library is closed, so you can't access the copies I have on reserve, but there are several other ways to get access to the textbook:
